Sharon Ingram | Owner/Artist

Sharon Ingram’s artistic journey is rooted in the dynamic interplay between surface energy and physical form. Deeply inspired by the legendary Abstract Expressionist Anton Weiss, with whom she had the honor of studying, Ingram initially sought to translate the vibrant layers and emotional resonance of abstract expressionism from canvas to clay. This cross-disciplinary approach sparked a lifelong fascination with texture and movement. Ingram’s relationship with ceramics began in 1979, spending her first decade working from molds, altering, and deconstructing forms, which led to beginning her journey with clay. By the early 1990s, her practice evolved to encompass wheel-throwing and the fluid, organic possibilities of soft slab manipulation. Beyond her personal practice, Ingram is a vital pillar of the Tennessee arts community. She founded Mud Puddle Pottery Studio, LLC in Pegram in 2004, followed by the establishment of the Harpeth Art Center and Gallery in 2009.

Driven by a vision to cultivate community through diverse mediums—including clay, painting, metal, and glass—Sharon considers her ongoing dialogue with fellow artists and students to be an essential catalyst for her continuous growth.

Sharon teaches Advancing Pottery Wheel and supervises all our other classes.
