Pottery Classes & Workshops

Since 2004, Mud Puddle Pottery Studio has offered a welcoming place for students to explore the possibilities of clay through wheel throwing, hand building, and sculpture. All these class series are 8-weeks long and occur four times a year.
Wheel Classes are offered at beginning, intermediate, and advancing levels. Beginning students learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing, including centering, pulling, shaping, trimming, and glazing. Intermediate classes help students build confidence and refine their technique while exploring new forms and approaches. Advanced classes give experienced potters the opportunity to further develop their skills, experiment with more challenging forms and firing techniques, and pursue their own creative direction.
Hand Building Classes offer a different way to work with clay, using techniques such as slab, coil, and pinch construction. These classes are ideal for students who enjoy creating pieces by hand and want to explore forms that may not be possible on the wheel. Students can learn to build functional pottery, sculptural pieces, and one-of-a-kind works while developing their own ideas and creativity.
Sculpture Classes explore the creative possibilities of clay in Sculpture with Nan Jacobsohn, a class designed for students interested in developing three-dimensional forms and expressing their ideas through clay. Nan brings her experience and knowledge to the studio, guiding students through the sculptural process while encouraging experimentation and individual expression.
Students will have the opportunity to explore form, texture, proportion, and surface as they develop their own sculptural pieces. Whether you are new to sculpture or have previous experience, this class offers a supportive environment to learn, experiment, and discover your own creative direction.
