Pottery Wheel Beginner-Intermediate

Thursdays 10am - 1pm or 6pm - 9pm | 8 Week Class Series

"Beginning Wheel Students" will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel and will include preparation, centering opening, pulling, trimming, and attaching handles. The students will work on bowl and cylinder forms. The last 2 weeks of the series is focused on learning how to brush and dip glazes.

"Intermediate and Continuing Students" will begin with a refresher and then get weekly challenges, techniques and surface applications, which are all geared toward skill building. The last 2 weeks of each class session will be glazing.

*New students will purchase materials on the first day of class if they do not have them: Kemper Pottery Wheel Tool Kit (made in the USA) and a 25 lb bag of Laguna Stoneware moist clay (Materials: Tool kit and clay approximately $55). One bag of clay is plenty for each 8 week class series. Continuing students can purchase a bag of clay as needed. Kiln firings and glazes are included for your class projects.

Mud Puddle Pottery Studio is a distributor of Laguna clay, supplies, tools, glazes, pottery wheels, kilns and equipment, etc.

What to bring: We suggest that students bring an old towel and or apron, a few gallon zip lock storage bags for clay scraps, and a container for tools such as a pencil box, cigar box, food container.  Bring a pencil, a note pad is helpful, and a 12" ruler is good to always have in your kit.

All students will have their own storage space for their clay and supplies.

Kiln firing of your class projects and studio glazes are included in class fee.  This class is an Adult class for ages 16 and up.
